Kristy's After-Market Accessories

Hi! My name is Kristy and I am a 32 year old paraplegic. In 2009, I was in a car accident in which I suffered two spinal fractures and the loss of my three year old daughter Helen. This began my journey to a new life. It began in Atlanta when I was helicoptered to Atlanta Medical Center to sit in wait for the surgery in which I would have rods and screws to stabilize my back and plates in my collar bone to give it support for the therapy and rehabilitation to come only a few weeks later at the Shepherd Center. That beautiful place brought me to the outgoing and independent woman which I have become.

With God in the lead, I have become autonomous again but have come to understand my physical limitations. However, I've been rewarded with the opportunity to learn that He has blessed me with a strong, courageous spirit! That spirit has given encouragement to not allow my body to decay and learned about some options to help! Below I have listed a few of the pieces of major equipment which will significantly improve my way of life, but are not covered by medical insurance. Please read below how the use of this equipment can help me so much. Thank you in advance for your visit and for your contribution to aid in reaching my goals!!

P.s. Should you prefer to send me a personal check, please Facebook message me for my address. :)

P.s.s. It occurred to me to put my blog addresses here for those of you who don't know me very well.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) applies small electrical pulses to paralyzed muscles to restore or improve their function. FES is commonly used for exercise, but also to assist with breathing, grasping, transferring, standing and walking. FES can help some to improve bladder and bowel function. There's evidence that FES helps reduce the frequency of pressure sores.
