Kristina’s Epilepsy Battle

In June of 2015 Kristina began having seizures and  was diagnosed with Meningitis.  Unfortunately a lesion still remains on her brain, which is what is believed to be causing her continued seizures. Continuous seizure are now causing atrophy in her temporal lobe as well.  Seizure medication is no joke and comes with an awful lot of side effects, including extreme exhaustion, weight gain, hair loss, brain fog, and more.Missing a dose isn’t an option, as it comes with hefty consequences.  Her monthly medication costs are equivalent to a car payment right now, but soon that cost will be going up even more as new medications are added.   Despite religiously taking her medications, Kristina is still having seizures.  After being referred to 5 different neurologist’s Kristina finally feels like she is where she needs to be, at UVA.  
The system has failed Kristina. Insurance through her employer isn’t an option.   The insurance that’s available to her is a joke.  It has insanely high monthly premiums and doesn’t even cover the tests she needs.  She has the chance to possibly get her life back and be seizure free, but she has to pay out of pocket for the tests.   She is already drowning in medical bills. The first of multiple tests she’ll need is $3,500.   Help us raise money to get Kristina the help she needs so that she and her daughter Leilani can enjoy life as they should! Thank you!
