Hello, my name is Victoria (Tori) Davis and I am trying to raise money for an electric wheelchair. I suffer from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is a rare genetic connective tissue disorder that effects the formation of the collagen fibers in my body. This genetic disease comes in six different types and each affects everyone differently.  I have type three or the hypermobility type where my connective tissue is more elastic like and the ligaments and tendons do not hold my joints in place. For the last six years I have been in constant pain due to subluxations and dislocations of many of my joints. It began with my ribs subluxtions at the age of 13 and then my vertebra, wrists, fingers, hip and knee have all dislocated. This is extremely painful and hard to live with since a dislocation can happen at any time. On top of the EDS, I also have the complication of a type of dysautonomia called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome or POTS which makes my heart rate increase drastically when changing my position from laying to sitting to standing and causing extreme dizziness and even loss of conciousness. Due to all of my dislocations and constant pain, I have been in a manual wheelchair for over a year. Now that I'm in college however, independence and safety are vital. No longer, am I capable of pushing myself around in the manual wheelchair because my shoulders and wrists can no longer handle the strain. I need an electric wheelchair and while I have good medical insurance that will pay a big portion of the nearly $20,000, it stills leave around $7,000 for us to raise.
