Kogi, Arsario, Arhuacos, Kankuamo

The Kogi, Arsario, Arhuacos, and Kankuamo are indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia.  They are ancient people and consider themselves "The Elder Brothers"; they shoulder the work of keeping the universe in balance.  We of modern cultures are seen as "Younger Brothers"; impetuous and violent, our behavior threatens to extinguish all life on Earth.  The Indigenous People now understand this has become a real possibility, and that they must give us instructions to prevent a global catastrophe.  A safe meeting place to host these instructions is now under construction.  Along the banks of the Buritaca River, a two hour walk from the coast and downriver from the legendary Lost City of Teyuna, the work is taking place under the direction of indigenous Spiritual Leaders, the Kogi Mamas.  Additionally there is a need for a "Casa Indigena" at the mouth of the river.  Where the fresh water from the mountains meets the salt water from the Caribbean is a sacred place, an "Ezuama", of vital importance to the health of the world.  Referred to as "Mutanzhi Kaka", the indigenous people must make "payments" there to offset the damage humans inflict on the Earth.  A traditional dwelling close to the coast will serve as a safe place to stay when they visit to fullfill these spiritual responsibilities.  In conjunction, a small co-op will make basic necessities available for trade.
The funds will be used to buy a small parcel of land at the mouth of the Buritaca River, to build a Casa Indigena, and to stock the co-op.
