Friends - This is a picture of Kneshae (left) and me.
I have known her since 1991! We went to high school together and have been friends since. She spent a semester abroad in Costa Rica, is fluent in English and Spanish, loves her baby sister, taught in Dallas ISD for a while like her mom did then decided to become a lawyer. She has a Bachelor's of Spanish from Northwestern, a Master's in Education from Columbia and most recently a law degree from SMU. In short, she is a rockstar.
In April 2015, while working at the Dallas District Attorney's Office in the Family Violence division, she fell ill. After going to the Mayo Clinic and UT Southwestern Medical Center, she was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. This means that she has pain in her face all day every day. Sometimes it feels like electric shocks are going through her face and she can not speak. She's had to go through speech therapy and is improving everyday.
She has been receiving disability checks but they are not enough. She needs additional help to get by until she can get back on her feet. She also has to pay for medical bills and other tests her doctors want done.
Despite all of these difficulties, she helps others by taking on Legal Aid cases on a volunteer basis. It is now my turn to help her. Kneshae does not know that I am doing this. Please consider donating whatever amount you are able to. Thank you in advance.
