Meeting Anthony's long term needs

Donation protected
My name is Tonya. On Wednesday September 10, at about 1.45 pm I was at work and received a call saying that my son, Anthony, was at work and he had fallen and they were taking him to the hospital.

When I arrived at the ER I did not realize how severely Anthony had been hurt until I was taken into a family room and the Chaplin was sent in to see me.

I asked to see a doctor and my son. When the doctor came in he told me that while Anthony was at work he had fallen from a building and had suffered life threatening injuries. He had severe head trauma, a fractured orbital bone, trauma to his left lung, a fractured wrist, and he had broke his left pelvic bone in eight places. Then a neuro surgeon came in to discuss Anthony's head trauma. They needed to put a monitor into his head to watch the swelling.

Due to the swelling they ultimately ended up having to remove the left side of Anthony's skull. Anthony spent the first four weeks in a coma and five weeks in ICU.

Over these past months I have stayed with my son. As I mentioned we were in ICU for about five weeks. After two months in the hospital in Alaska, Anthony was medivaced to a hospital in Denver that specializes in Traumatic Brain Injuries. After two months in Denver we have been brought to a facility in Nebraska.

During this time I have been with my son. With the understanding of my employer I was able to work remotely up until two weeks ago when my FMLA was exhausted.

Without an income, until I am able to return to work, I am reaching out and asking for help.

During the early days everyone asked, "What can we do? What do you need?" At that point my response was always the same, "all we need is prayer. Please just pray for Anthony, our family, and the people working to save his life daily. This need may change down the road but today all I need is your prayers."

Those prayers were answered. Without question, all those prayers are what saved my son.

The needs have changed. I need to be able to pay for our car insurance, utilities, car payments, cell phones, having my car shipped back to Alaska when they tell us we can come home, Anthony's therapy dog (food, shots). All these little things are adding up. I am asking for help with these things until I can return to work.

Thank you for reading. May your day be filled with blessings.
