I am asking for help for my good friend Laura.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2015.  She underwent surgery and had seven months of chemotherapy and radiation.  Laura finished treatment in December of 2015 and the prognosis was very positive.
However, in January of 2017 which was barely a year later, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.  It had metastasized to her liver, spine, left lung, and mediastinum.  Laura began treatment immediately.  She has good days and bad days, but she continues to remain positive and care for her family.  Laura has come to the realization that she is not going to be able to continue her 25 year career as an elementary teacher.  She has started the process of applying for disability benefits.  However, even if she is approved, it will be 60% less than her teaching salary.
Laura and her husband, Tim, have two teenagers; Emily who will begin her junior year and Ben who will begin his 8th grade year at Springfield Schools.  The family would appreciate any help you could provide them through this difficult time.  They find they are receiving medical bills that are much greater than they anticipated because some of the chemotherapy drugs are too new to be available as generic.
We cannot help Laura and her family with the stress of a cancer diagnosis, but we can help with the financial burdens they are facing.  I have had a number of people asking me what they could do to help.  This is what we can do.  If you are able, please make a donation.  The size does not matter.  Every cent helps and please continue praying for continued healing and strength.
