Hi everyone,
Our names are Melissa Bernstein and Jordan Chung and we are Kindergarten teachers in two different classrooms at a school in West Harlem.
We are extremely passionate about our students and our learning environments. We take the education of our students very seriously and are always trying to think of new and innovative ways to reach our students. Due to the advances in technology and the many studies claiming the positive effects on student learning, this year we wanted to raise money for iPads for our classrooms.
iPads are an amazing learning tool for children as they are interactive, motivating, engaging, have wonderful educational apps and are so much FUN! Many of you are aware of the effects of technology on children. Many parents often tell us that their children are glued to their Tablets when they come home from school and play games on them all night long until bed. Imagine if the students could be this engaged and motivated to learn by using iPads in a functional and academic setting... the posibilities are endless.
With your help, we will be able to provide our students with an incredible tool that will take their learning to the next level. We hope to have applications on the iPads that will assist our students with math, reading, writing, and phonics skills. Many of our students have trouble with phonics, and through apps such as Letter School, the students will learn to write their letters and identify their sounds in a fun and engaging way.
Another great app we will be using with the students is Star Fall. Star Fall provides interactice activities to assist with phonics and reading. The students may not even realize they are learning something by "playing" these games!
We are SO excited to be able to bring iPads into our classrooms. We thank you all so much for your generous donations and know the students will be grateful for the wonderful educational tools you will help to provide them with.
