Today on November 20th, our small family business, Best Cleaners, was completely burned down into flames.
Approximately around 3:30 PM, our mother who was working alone at the store located in midtown Atlanta, smelled something burning at the rear end of the store. She went back to check what was going on to realize that a machine had caught on fire. She tried to suppress the flame, while a stranger who was in the next store noticed a problem and came to help. However, the clothes had already caught on fire and it was spreading to a wider area, which led our mother and the stranger to desperately evacuate from the store. As soon as they ran out, the machines on fire caused an explosion.
Our parents have been running a dry cleaning business for over 20 years, and Best Cleaners for more than 10 years. They are 1st generation Korean Americans who are very diligent and always working to support the family. It breaks our heart that something so tragic happened to them. However, we are so so so grateful that there were no serious injuries.
Currently, our parents are recovering from the shock. We are uncertain of how to move forward and what our future plans will be. Although there is no hope of reviving the store, we believe that everything is a part of God's plan and that He will create a new path for our family. Through this gofundme page we hope to pay for some of the expenses and damages that were caused by this incident. ANY amount and prayers (prayers!) are greatly appreciated.
