Kim Flintom's Farm Accident

Donation protected
I am Jean Flintom. My brother-in-law Kim Flintom had an accident on the farm which has caused grievous injuries. Several weeks ago, he was finishing up rolling the hay and got off the baler because he heard a clunk and while he was checking, the PTO of the baler caught his clothing and pulled his hand into the machinery.  He managed to pull his hand out, and turn the tractor off. He called for help and dialed 911. He was out in the middle of the field but our neighbor heard his call for help and went to see what had happened.  He found Kim lying in the field and was able to finish the 911 call, and with Kim's direction, used Kim's belt as a tourniquet to staunch the bleeding, and directed the first responders to the right location. The Deer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department responded quickly and the Asst. Chief, an Army Ranger who had extensive experience with emergency medicine on the battle field, stabilized his condition and called the Life Flight chopper. He was transported to UT Medical Center where, in addition to the massive trauma to his hand, he was treated for a broken neck, broken ribs and a broken sternum. Efforts to save his hand were unsuccessful.  His hand to mid forearm had to be amputated. Kim and Laura have just moved to the farm and had joined the local volunteer fire department as a way of serving their community before the accident happened. Three years ago Kim had a devastating motorcycle accident and shortly after was diagnosed with leukemia and has not been able to work since.
He now is faced with extensive therapy to learn to use his left hand and to be fitted with a prosthetic arm and hand. It is uncertain how much his insurance will cover.  Laura, his wife, has taken time off her job to be at the hospital almost around the clock due to the distance to the hospital and ongoing treatment decisions that had to be made.  Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated as daily bills keep coming and the medical bills will soon start adding up. We live in a great community where we have had great prayer support from friends, neighbors and even people who we did not know before this happened. Some financial help would greatly help Laura by relieving the worry about unpaid bills and letting her concentrate on helping Kim get healed and become independent again.
