Kim Williams-Albino: Polar Cold Cap Treatment

Donation protected
At 32 years old our friend Kim Williams-Albino has been diagnosed with Stage1A breast cancer.  She is the best mother, an excellent wife, a loving daughter and sister, and a loyal friend.  Kim can be defined by the many positive attributes of her personality, but one thing she refuses to be defined by, is this disease.

After a double mastectomy, Kim recently found out that the cancer has invaded her outside duct.  The Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) was so large that it touched everything; muscle, skin, and her entire breast.  She will unfortunately need more treatment to defeat this disease such as radiation, low dose chemo/tamoxifen for 12 weeks.  She will experience extreme fatigue, finger numbness, and hair loss.  Being a young woman, hair loss is a much feared side effect of the chemo and a psychologically devastating aspect of cancer treatment.  Polar Cold Caps can help preserve her hair for 12 weeks.  Cold caps constrict the blood vessels beneath the skin to prevent the chemotherapy from reaching the hair follicle, therefore preserving her hair.  The Cold Cap is a special hat that is worn during chemotherapy. The Cold Caps are extremely expensive, and we have hope that with the money raised we would be able to fund this for Kim and give her and her family one less thing to think about.

If we have come to learn anything about Kim, it is that she is a fighter.  We have no doubt that she will approach this all head on and will fight with true bravery and grace.  A text from her to our friend group recently said, “Was hoping to avoid chemo but I don’t want any regrets or worries and want to fight as much as possible so ultimately if that’s what I need, I’ll suck it up.”  We are truly in awe of her strength and motivation, which are fueled by the love she has for her husband Nelson, son Jackson, along with the rest of her family and friends.

Anyone who knows Kim well, knows that she would do anything for the ones she loves.  It is now our turn to be there for her.  We are kindly asking that you please help ease the financial burden that is placed on Kim and her family.  Any donation is so greatly appreciated.  We want to thank you all in advance for your generosity and love shown to Kim.

With love,

Meesh, Jaclyn, Staci & Kian
