Kim Clifford is a loving Wife to Charlie (18 years), Mother to Lucas (10) and Connor (8), daughter, friend to countless people and has been the Principal @ Oakdale Elementary School in the Frederick County Maryland Public School System since 2014 (With FCPS since 1997).
Kim and Charlie founded Saturday Suppers, providing free meals to the community on the first Saturday of every month at South End Baptist Church, Frederick, MD. The program has grown to 2 more locations and expanded to provide free, gently used clothing for those in need. The program serves more than 250 free meals to those in need every month.
Tests in December, 2017 showed benign growths and with her personal history (a bone cancer survivor) and family history of breast cancer, Kim made the difficult decision to have a preventive double mastectomy in early February, 2018.
Kim and her family learned in mid-February, through post-operative pathology, that breast cancer was removed during her surgery and she now faces the challenges of chemotherapy and radiation to help her beat cancer a second time in her life. More surgery is scheduled for mid-March to remove lymph nodes and ovaries with extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatments thereafter.
Kim and Charlie face several challenges and I’m asking all of the people she has touched over the years to donate whatever you can to help reduce their anxiety from the financial strain this is causing on their lives. Kim’s preventive surgery has used up all of her paid leave from work, so in addition to the burden of medical bills, transportation to treatment and doctors and cost of medications, Kim will have to take unpaid time off work to fight the cancer.
No amount is too small, or too large.
Every penny donated will go to Kim and Charlie to offset their cost of treatment and loss of pay during Kim's battle.
