Killians fight against cancer

Hello, my name is Christine Beard.

This is a fundraiser I never imagined I would need to create.

I am reaching out for help for my daughter-in-law Killian, my son, Stephen, and their two children.

Our family was recently blindsided with the devastating news that Killian (age 35) has cancer.

Killian had been feeling fatigued (more than her normal), and having back pain for some time and attributed it to working six days a week, and her job requiring a lot of heavy lifting. Then late October 2024 she began having new symptoms of rib pain, some pain in abdomen, and her back pain was worsening.

This led her to going to the ER a couple of times, and the nightmare began. Over a few months , a lot of traveling to several doctors, having CT‘s, blood work, surgery, PET scan, waiting, wondering, worrying . In the last couple of weeks we have learned she has Metastatic Adenocarcinoma Colorectal cancer that has metastasized to her liver, pancreas, and other areas in her abdomen. She is retaining a lot of fluid in her abdomen, back and has recently spread to her legs, and this fluid is a product of the cancer that also contains cancer cells. Her pain has greatly increased over the past month.

The doctors say this cancer is aggressive and is not curable, but hopes to manage it with treatment.

Stephen has been employed at a small grocery store in a small town in Arkansas for 20 years now. Killian is employed at the same store, but has not been able to work for the past six weeks and will not be able to return to work anytime soon. They live a modest lifestyle in the country with their two children Kasey (15) &Will (10) .

As Killian and her family navigate this very challenging time, they face not only emotional strain, but also significant financial burden.

Killian will be getting a port this week February 26, 2025 and begins chemotherapy March 3.
