Killian Mather McKessock Waddell
Killian Mather Mckessock Waddell was born September 4 ..
The delivery all went well - 6# 12 oz bouncing baby boy ( well - Dean was bouncing as he does !)
Killian was born with a hypoplastic right heart as well as some significant other abnormalities of the cardiac vessels and pulmonary artery. As a result, he would have required 3 operations in order to "re route" the blood vessels and bypass the right side of the heart . That was not able to happen as was determined September 7 .
Killian is now on the heart transplant list
.
At this point ,Sheri will stay in Toronto with Killian and Dean and the kids will go down on the weekends - but that is all fluid .
Expenses have been piling up since that first visit in June to Sick Kids and Mt Sinai and will continue for some time to come as you can well imagine .
Some of those expenses include choleostasis testing for Sheri every 2 weeks ( not covered ) , 5 trips to Toronto already - if Sheri had an appointment 75% of the travel is covered by the Northern Ontario Travel Grant but Dean and the boys travel back and forth is not covered . There were hotel bills for a few nights with coverage at $100 plus food expenses here and there. Dean's work has been very generous in supporting flex time - but he does miss days and work for sure ( he is on contract so that adds up in a huge way for all the days missed which will keep happening in the days/weeks to come )
To be clear, there has been some very helpful and kind support used already . First of all - thank goodness for our health system, the northern Ontario travel grant , the loan of an apartment through Mt Sinai for 2 weeks which was a godsend and now Ronald McDonald house which is the new address for Sheri and the family on a weekend basis . But that is not the whole story
Financial issues are a major concern for this gang and so any support that friends can offer would be so appreciated .
It is a difficult time for all .
please contact me -Mary Waddell ,absolutely if there are any questions or you want more information
in the meantime - sending hugs , kisses and great thoughts are always a support !!
Although the goal was $6000 and has been reached , it is apparent that more will be needed. All money is given to Sheri and Dean even if i is over the goal ( which is fantastic ) and if there is money left over after all expenses are paid down the road it would be donated to sick kids.
