Kiliuda- Autism Service Animal
Donation protected
My sister, Cassie, has never impressed me as much as she does with her continual patience, love and fortitude in learning how to best raise, love and support her autistic son, Keegan. Recently, as his outbursts have been escalating, we noticed the calming affect dogs have on him. We noticed that he can be affectionate with dogs in ways he never has with most people. Upon researching a pet for Keegan, we realized that there are possibilities beyond companionship that could open up Keegan's world including calming meltdowns to interrupting self harming behaviors. Since adding Kiliuda to the family, they have seen many positive affects and are seeking to get Kiliuda trained to be an Austism Service Animal. Please help me to help my sister!
The following quote is from Rachel Nytch, the RBT who conducts Keegan's ABA Therapy through Affinity Autism Treatments.
"I've been working with Keegan for about 9 months now and during that time he's been working on calm down strategies and focusing on his work. Kiliuda has helped with both of these tasks. When Keegan is getting upset, Kiliuda helps him sit still and focus on calming down by sitting with him while he pets her. When Keegan is struggling with focusing on his work he is able to pet Kiliuda while still paying attention, and she helps him stay calm so that he is able to focus without getting frustrated with the task. As a service dog, Kiliuda will be able to help Keegan in different areas of his life so that he can continue to learn and grow."
