Kili for Crohns

Donation protected

In the coming weeks my father and I will embark on our eight-day trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. We have decided to dedicate our climb to raise funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. This is a foundation that came into my family's radar about two years ago when my older brother was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
In short: Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis are horrible chronic diseases that affect 1.6 million Americans.
People with Crohn's and UC have very limited diets as certain foods (seeds, caffeine, dairy, sugar, fibers, etc) cause burning gut pains, or "flares." In the worst cases, eating or drinking anything becomes impossible without heavy painkillers.
Fortunately my brother has had access to strong medications which have put him into remission and made his Crohn's Disease manageable.
These conditions require more research as there is no known cause and no known cure.
The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro sits at 19,340 feet, and so we hope to raise $19,340. This will go towards research efforts for a better cure as well as aiding those who do not have health insurance, or whose insurance does not cover the cost of the medication.
