Please help us bring Xmas forward for Kieran Maxwell and his family and help us to help them create some happy memories in the time left. Kieran and his family have selflessly posted their recent awful news hoping to help others diagnosed with the same aggressive cancer and raise awareness. But please help us give a little back and help this wonderful, brave and selfless family make the memories they deserve in the time they have left.
Kieran was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer in 2010 at the age of 12. He commenced chemotherapy to try to save his leg. Unfortunately the tumour failed to shrink enough to save his limb requiring through the knee amputation. Kieran was declared cancer free on the 3rd of October 2011 and with great determination and drive he began competing as a Paralympian athlete. Even winning in the NDP British Gymnastics Acro competition 8 days after he found out that his cancer had recurred on the 10th of May 2013.
Kieran’s cancer had spread to his lung, which required intensive chemotherapy, part of his left lung removed and stem cell transplant due to the aggressive nature of the chemotherapy. He has since gone on to compete as a classified T42 sprinter, fundraise and inspire many other children and families in the same position.
At routine oncology clinic less than 2 weeks ago a chest x-ray revealed the cancer was back and this time round this amazing young lads heart and lung. It is very extensive this time and progressing quickly. So Kieran has bravely decided not to undergo chemotherapy but to opt for quality of life for his remaining time.
