Dear KIDspired friends and families,
On March 16, Governor Hogan of Maryland, ordered all non-essential businesses to close in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which included all county school buildings and fields. Under this order, KIDspired would not be able to provide its school year programming to students and unfortunately now looks as if it will also not be able to provide its summer camp. Going into the 12th week of not being able to provide any service to customers, KIDspired is struggling to pay the bills that would allow them to re-open once allowed to do so.
Brandon Childers, more popularly known as “Iggy”, opened KIDspired in 2015, making his dream a reality and providing a space which would inspire all kids to be active and creative in a safe and positive environment. After 20+ years of experience in the afterschool/camp business as a member of the leadership team at Bar-T, Brandon used his knowledge and his passion to create programs focused on how to engage kids and their families in after school club programs and summer camp. Each year, KIDspired has grown in programming and staff and was getting ready to have its best year and summer on record. While Brandon and the staff did not rush to panic after all its Spring programs, trainings and events were canceled, the team was hoping to be able to run camp. KIDspired was effected with the loss of revenue from Spring programs; however Brandon was hopeful that the success of Summer Camp would make up for it and by year's end the company would still come out more successful than the year before and with more memories of happy kids, campers, and families. As we are getting closer to summer, it is looking clearer that camp will not open as hoped. Brandon and his team are at the mercy of the county and state and what they will allow. While he has applied for government funding, he has not received any support loans to help him keep the business afloat and there is no certainty that he will receive any financial support in the future.
In order to keep their doors open and be able to provide programs once the county allows, on behalf of KIDspired, I am starting a GoFundMe Campaign. Hopefully this will help raise funds and provide financial support to KIDspired and its staff during this unusual time. We all understand that many of us are watching our spending; any amount will help. If you are able to help financially that will be one step in helping KIDspired resume the excellent programming that Brandon and his staff have provided since opening their doors. While KIDspired's goal is to continue to provide top-notch programming for its kids and families, Brandon and his staff are brainstorming alternative ways to keep kids active, creative and engaged during the summer months. Be on the lookout for future emails on virtual programming and other fundraising ideas to compliment this initial GoFundMe campaign.
