GO BALD for BRAVERY BOX
On April 18th 4-8pm, Sarah will be co-hosting an event with Bravery Box to help raise some much needed funds to help support kids and teens with cancer.
Sarah will be shaving her head (and her 11 year old niece will be doing a partial head shave to show her support also).
Why?
Children with cancer often lose their hair during treatment which can be difficult to deal with. This can cause feelings of loneliness and isolation. Shaving my head is a simple way I can show these kids and teens that I stand with them in solidarity.
Oncology families often have to be in isolation for fear of infection. In our current COVID-19 world, this is even more critical. While for most of us isolation is a new concept and will no doubt a challenging time for us, it is a something that Oncology families are good at.
So, instead of a physical event we are hosting an online Isolation Party.
What will happen at this party?
I will be live-steaming our head shaves. Now, my hair is already short, but I am going to be brave and go the full shave! And it isn't about how much hair I lose, it is about the support that is gained for this community. My niece still has school regulations, so will be getting a short cut, with a sneaky side shave, and is dedicating this to her friend Lara who is now out of treatment.
