When he came out of the coma, he learned his kidneys were failing. Juan now requires dialysis, which leaves him very tired and takes a toll on his quality of life.Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary and Juan has been on the transplant waiting list since 2014.
During this difficult time, Juan is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Wanda, and their family and friends. Juan and Wanda have three children, and his illness causes a lot of worry for his family. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give him back his energy and allow him to be an active husband and father. He wants nothing more than to be free from dialysis and be able to travel with his family. But right now, he needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $335,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Juan still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Juan had to stop working due to his declining health, further adding to his financial strain.
