Please help me raise money to watch my dear friend Sarah Emerson kick the F out of breast cancer!
For those of you that know Sarah, you know that her strength is as impressive as her humor, heart and call to service.
She is 33 years young and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on March 8, 2017..
Sarah will subsequently undergo twelve weeks of chemotherapy starting March 31st and a bilateral (double) mastectomy later this summer after which she can finally start thinking about reconstructive surgery.
Sarah plans on working as long as she can throughout her treatment. She will receive chemo treatments every Friday for twelve weeks with the hope that she can regain enough strength over the weekends to return to work Monday morning.
Sarah was instrumental in dreaming up and creating the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital team at the Mount Desert Island Marathon as well as the Nicholas Strikes Back 5K and Children’s Fun Run to help kids battling cancer. She is now facing a big battle of her own and it would be amazing to see that energy directed at helping her win this battle.
Cancer introduces so many unknowns, but what we do know is that Sarah needs to spend this time fighting for her health. The money donated will go towards Sarah's medical expenses and her household bills, allowing her to take leave from working as necessary so she can be in the hospital, attend all of her appointments and treatments, and heal at home surrounded by those who love her, including her son Tyler and her husband Ruddley.
Sarah is the most resilient person I know. She is going to take this challenge, like she has so many others, and thrive. And your love and support are going to help her grow stronger everyday. Thank you for reading this and helping Sarah fly brave!
