Pulmonary Hypertension is a type of high blood pressure that affects the arteries in your lungs and the right side of your heart. Some forms of pulmonary hypertension are serious conditions that become progressively worse and are sometimes fatal.
Patricia and Maureen Kibbe (Mother and Daughter) of Randolph, New York have been fighting their battle with Pulmonary Hypertension for several years now. There is a specific gene mutation that can cause pulmonary hypertension to develop in families, called heritable pulmonary arterial hypertension; Maureen, was diagnosed 11 years ago and Patricia learned her fate 9 years ago, Patricia's sister, lost her battle with the condition in 2010.
The main cure for the disease is to undergo full lung replacement. Patricia received word in September 2018, that she was officially a recipient, and did undergo double lung transplant surgery. In addition to the lung replacement, she had 2 heart valves replaced and was in and out of surgery several times over the weekend. Patricia is now stable and recovering at Cleveland Clinic, her anticipated stay is 4 - 6 months.
The Go Fund Me account has been created to assist the family with the expenses involved in traveling to the hospital, food, hotels, gas money, etc. The family takes turn staying with Patricia, and are very grateful for the support that they are receiving from their employers to work odd schedules, so they can rotate their time to be at the hospital.
The funds raised for The Kibbe family will be 100% dedicated to Patricia's recovery and along with any future needs that they encounter as Maureen battles her fight with the disease.
Patricia was born and raised in Frewsburg, New York, and is a Special Education teacher in the Falconer School district. Patricia lives in Randolph, New York with her husband, Lloyd, sons Patrick, Michael and daughter Maureen.
