Kicking Cancer for Lisa

Donation protected
Lisa Leuther was diagnosed with Breast Cancer back in 2011.  She has gone through so many chemo and radiation treatments. She has also had complications from her surgeries and had repairs and skin graphs from surgeries.  Well she was cleared from it, only to find out that it had returned in her spine in August of 2016. Now it is labeled as Stage IV Breast Cancer that has spread to her bones.

She started on shots that were supposed to stop the cancer from further spreading, and it worked for awhile.  We found out that they stopped working this past fall 2017, and needed to try another treatment.  That treatment failed completely and the cancer has spread up her spine, into her skull, ribs, and pelvic bone.  She has just started Chemotherapy again, and just went through having to shave her head and lose her hair all over again.  Despite all this, she is still working as a full time teacher at a private school in St. Louis, MO.

Lisa is a mother to Grace, 21, Josh, 17, and her step-daughter Liz, 30. She is also still a sister to her 3 sisters, one being her twin sister Laurie. She has been married to Tim, her husband, for over 25 years.  They have 2 granddaughters named Leyla, 7 and Ivy, 4 months.  To Leyla, Lisa is known as Mom-Mom, and is such a huge part of her life.  Lisa's doctors have informed her that her bones are so badly bridle, that can't  have Leyla sit on her lap or even hold her new granddaughter Ivy.  She really has to be careful, because walking might cause her hip to break.

You will never hear Lisa complain about pain, still having to be a mom, or running errands.  She has been the ultimate fighter against this.  The only thing you might hear her say is that she is just tired.  This time around it is taking a real tole on her body.

Grace is a college student at Mizzou, Josh is a junior at Whitfield High School, and Tim and Lisa are still working full time to pay for all the tuition and bills.  It's all adding up, especially with all Lisa's medical visits and treatments.

I'm really hoping to help relieve a little of this stress so that Lisa can minimize her teacher career, that she's loved for over 30 years, help with tuition for the kids schools, and pay bills that they have as a family. She will NEVER ask for help, so I'm taking it upon myself to ask for help from other people for her.

If you know Lisa, you know how kind and helpful of a person she is to everyone else. Please find it in your heart to return kindness and help in ANYWAY possible.

Love,

Liz
