Kickin' It in Greece!

Each year, 5 Elements Martial Arts sends fighters to join Team Canada at the World Kickboxing and Karate Union (WKU) competition. This year the competition is being held at the end of October in Athens, Greece. 5 Elements Martial Arts (Kru Renshi Maeghan Cotterill) is supporting myself and my dad in attending this international event.
I qualified to join Team Canada in the 'K1' and 'Low Kick' divisions.

I have been practicing Muay Thai kickboxing for 19 years, and hold a 1st degree Black Belt. I started fighting in 2016, and am honored to travel and compete at an international event . My dad (Kru Mike Zientek, who is the Lead Muay Thai instructor at 5 Elements Martial Arts holds a 4th degree Black Belt) will be joining Team Canada as one of the Kickboxing Coaches in Athens.
Some funds and donations have already been raised for our trip (flights to London and hotel fees), however we still require some additional support to make this trip a reality.
The following is a breakdown of the total funds we need to raise:
2 Flights to Athens, taxes and baggage fees: $2100
Entry Fees and Gear: $380
Meals: $1000
If you are able to help out in any way, there are several options for friends and family to contribute:
1. Friends and Family Fundraiser at 5 Elements Martial Arts gym (13226 Macleod Trail, #112 - beside Canyon Meadows Cinemas) on Saturday October 13th from 3:30 - 5:00 pm. Minimum donation of $20.
2. Tickets to win 3 hours of private one on one training with Kru Mike, Kru Sarah and Kru Renshi Maeghan Cotterill at $10 per ticket - sold at the Saturday fundraiser or e-transfer to Sarah directly.
3. This Go Fund Me page
In the fortunate event that we raise more than required for this trip, we will donate the surplus funds to the Calgary Humane Society.
In the event that myself and Kru Mike do not attend this event for any unforeseen reasons, the funds raised at the Saturday fundraiser would be donated to the sponsoring gym, 5 Elements Martial Arts, and a portion of the donations raised on the Go Fund Me page would be refunded (flights are non refundable).
There are too many people to mention that have taught, loved and supported me in pursuing this passion, but know that I wouldn't be where I am without each and every one of you. I will represent Team Canada and Team Calgary (family, friends, my partner in crime, co workers, training partners, 5 Elements Martial Arts, Mike Miles Kickboxing and Muay Thai, Fight Fit YYC Nutrition and my teachers).
