Our mission at Focus Up is to empower economically disadvantaged young adults to elevate themselves out of poverty. Our goals are to do so by offering weekly mentoring sessions to help heighten their education, learn soft skills, and how to perserver into adult career-fields- all at no cost to them! Focus Up also plans to form the highest quality educational resources via an online resource library to help them have a much clearer understanding of a variety of topics, free of the sales process.
Examples of topics we intend to offer from Focus Up Mentors and within Focus Up's Resource Library include:
- Interviewing/ Resume Building
- What is Credit / How to Build Credit
- Soft Skills / Communication Skills
- Investing & Retirement
- Business Etiquette
- Mental Health Practices
Our goal is to see a consistent decrease in the number of young people staying in confused and impoverished situations as they enter adulthood. Funds raised through this platform will be utilized in a variety of ways including start-up funds for Focus Up.
Some important statistics that fuel our passion to succeed:
- 6,000 young people on average enter the adult world every year without a highschool diploma (Charleston, SC)
- 76% of young adults surveyed feel 'unprepared for college'
- 91% of young adults surveyed say 'they have had zero training or prep' for the adult world/workforce
The above chart demonstrates the percentage breakdown of resources young adults currently have at their disposal for preparation for their desired career or college paths. Focus Up aims to provide dependable and verified information from educated professionals outside of the sales process to empower today's youth instead.
Any and all donations to Focus Up are greatly appreciated and encourage us to continue our passion in aiding the next generations. For more information, please visit our website at www.focusupcharleston .com
