Stevie's Wheelchair Accessible Van!

I have known Stevie for 32 of his 38 years!! He was my student when he was 6 years old, and has always been a fun, funny, friendly, determined, amazing individual!
When he was six, although challenged in language and motor skills, he was able to walk, run and play ball, which he did with his sister, his school mates, and with my two sons. However, Stevie has a degenerative condition involving ongoing seizures and myclonic jerks, and by the age of 13 he was wheelchair bound. For many years, though, he was able to bear weight, transfer in and out of his chair and the car, and was able to maintain a good deal of independence. Gradually, though, his myclonic jerks and seizures have increased and his strength has waned significantly. He now needs assistance for all physical activities.
Getting into a vehicle is a particular challenge now, because he needs to be fully assisted, and is at high risk for falling while being transferred. In fact, he fell a few months ago and broke his nose, requiring surgery.
Additionally, Steven needs a new wheelchair, which will be significantly heavier, and will be impossible to be lifted by one person into a vehicle.
Stevie is very social, and loves his outings with family, staff and friends. He loves to bowl, eat, swim, dance, eat, go to movies and plays, eat, go to the park....you get the idea. His family will have assistance his waiver funding for a wheelchair lift, but he desperately needs a compatible minivan on which the lift can be installed.
