Khublall Raj Ramratan
My brother, Khublall Raj Ramratan, is not only a devoted father to four children and 4 grandchildren which he provides financial support to but is also the central core of his family and the glue that keeps them all together. He has had a heart condition most of his life and has been through many surgeries and a variety of heart medications, but through it all, he has maintained a relatively normal life. In May, his cardiologist prescribed him a heart medicine, Entresto. Unfortunately, after taking Entresto for two weeks, he experienced many side effects that has been detrimental to his health and has caused him to be hospitalized since May 2017. His blood pressure dropped, his potassium level was sky high, and his kidneys started to fail.
Since May 2017, Raj has been in and out of consciousness and has had to depend on a respirator on numerous occasion as he was resuscitated at least 4 times while in the hospital.
Initially, we were advised that he had less than 5% chance of surviving the weekend when admitted but he has overcome that. After months of evaluation at Stony Brooke Hospital, the verdict is that Raj will require a heart valve replacement, which is a high risk procedure in his current condition. The recommended facility that may potentially take on this procedure is the Cleveland Clinic (600 miles from his family). We were able to transport Raj to the Cleveland Clinic in hopes that they would conduct the procedure. Upon arrival, his physical condition became worse preventing any procedures until his condition becomes more stable.
We are in desperate need to support Raj and the family both financially and emotionally through this critical juncture in his life. His health needs to get stronger in order for any possibility of the heart surgery. We hope that you will support Raj in his fight for his life. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
