Lung Transplant Benefit
In June 2003 I got a autoimmune disease called polymyositis. This is a connective tissue disorder. It attacked my lungs and I developed Pulmonary fibrosis. . Well I was very lucky as I have been sailing along quite well , on oxygen and keeping a full time job ,until this summer, Aug 2014. I ended up in the Regina General in emergency as I just couldn't seem to get enough oxygen.
After several tests this fall ,my Drs have put me on the list for a double lung transplant. Prior to surgery I have 6 weeks of pre physical and mental therapy in Edmonton. I am expecting this to happen with in 6 months. The surgery and post op /re hab will be 3 months in Edmonton with a 24 hour caregiver ,a place to stay and what ever else unforeseen expenses. Depending how long a wait other costs could be loss of wages, help/caregiver before transplant. There are so many unforeseen expenses.
There is a Benefit /Social evening planned at Kincaid, Rink, Kincaid Sask. April 25,2015. There are also donations accepted at Mankota, Gravelbourg, and Pontiex Credit Union. To the Charlotte L'Oste-Brown(Geisler)Lung transplnt Benefit
There is info on www.ab.lung.ca website for information on Lung transplants and possible costs involved.
