Kevin has been working through battling and living with cancer for over a year.   It has already taken his leg and has moved to his lungs.  Recent diagnosis has proven that there is nothing medically left to do while keeping with his quality of life.

All proceeds with be placed towards Kevin’s out-of-pocket medical expenses.  In the event there are funds left un-used, Kevin’s wife will donate them towards his favorite charity.

In Kevin's Words:

Cold Hard Fact #1 Cancer diagnosis is an emotional rollercoaster.

We were in rather good spirits leaving the offices of the first doctor. If you can imagine being in good spirits after discussing amputation. We felt overwhelmed and numb after leaving the offices of the second doctor. We were blessed and exhausted after leaving the third doctor. We experienced the full spectrum of emotions today. Up – down - Up – down…

Cold Hard Fact #2 Nothing will ever be the same

It hit home today, for the rest of my life, I will be dealing with Sarcoma and its effects on my body. There is a new “normal” out there that we will have to define. Just not sure what that is yet, but I look forward to making the journey with all of you. As a matter of fact, I will not be able to do it without you. I am too weak and frail. I need you on this long and arduous journey. Please keep sending the devotions, prayer snippets and encouragements. They really do help! Thanks!!!

Cold Hard Fact #3 This stuff is hard

Sure I am a Marine and this cancer thing ‘ain’t nothing but a thing’ whose butt I thoroughly intend to kick. However, most of my loved ones around me are not and I suggest it is harder on them than me, at least emotionally. Please remember them in prayer. So just a heads up – you cannot train for this! Nothing in life will prepare you for this trial. It tests your mettle, your character, your convictions and your faith. Hard to imagine we are just getting started. Rest assured brethren, my Faith, authored by God is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ’s blood and righteousness! He is mine and I am His.

So what is a person to do?

When you lack, ask God, who gives without reproach… In other words, pray to God for that which you lack. James tells us that we always lack, often we lack wisdom. I have felt my lack of wisdom every day since I heard I had cancer. I do not have the time or ability to learn everything there is to know about Cancer, but I know this: I have all the time I need to learn everything I can about my Redeemer! I know HE lives, and I will see HIM in HIS Glory! But what do I need? I need Wisdom and so I pray to God for wisdom. James reassures us that God gives immeasurably as the “giving” God without getting angry at our incessant begging for Wisdom. You can also beg for holiness, sanctification, grace, mercy and truth. Scriptures teach us God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine. So keep asking for what you lack – with a right hearted motivation. Who knows what God might do through you? Like Esther, all y’all were created for such times as these!
