Newlywed Immigration Fund

Hello friends and family, Amy and I would like to thank those of you who were able to attend our wedding for your generous gifts and for joining us on our special day. Although the wedding was 8 months ago, as many of you know we are still separated by a national border and must continue to maintain two separate households of expenses on our limited funds. The process of legal immigration is both lengthy and expensive (yes, even from Canada!). The good news is that the first segment of our immigration application, the spouse visa petition, has been approved! The notification of this approval is something we have been waiting a long time for and is exciting news. The next steps in our process, however, require more money than we have available. It's not easy for me to ask for money or admit that I need help, and initially I considered just staying quiet and taking out a loan to cover these expenses. But after much deliberation and thought, I decided to make this account and see if there would be people willing to help us out. The remaining filing fees and paperwork costs alone are anticipated to be approximately $2500. In addition to this, there will be expenses related to traveling to the consulate in Montreal for the immigration interview and expenses related to relocation once Amy's visa/green card is approved. We certainly don't expect to have this completely paid for us, but every little bit that you can give will be a huge help for us and will be so deeply appreciated! This is where you can come in and provide much needed support. Amy and I can't wait to start our shared life together, and you can help us make that a reality sooner through your giving.
