Kevin Sniecinski's Medical Fund

A San Francisco Nightlife institution needs our help! I've been friends with Kevin Sniecinski since I started drag, and he has always been a huge supporter of my twisted style. As the creator of Dark Room, he's brought the goth kids back out of the shadows and into the Bay Area nightlife scene. As many of you probably know, Kevin has been fighting a battle with cancer for many years, and the amazing news is that he is now in remission!! But the battle has not only left him physically scarred but financially as well. Now is our chance to give back to someone who has helped and entertained us!

Here is the situation from Kevin himself...

Friends, Family and Community.
Recently I announced that I was in a state of remission from cancer, which I am thankful for – beyond words. That said I have been struggling to keep my head above water. Most of you know me as someone who raises funds and supports causes that are close to me or relevant in my community.

I just had reconstructive surgery, of which, I am responsible for 50% or 14.5k. I have managed to incur bills over $80,000.00 in debt. I am no longer able to work (indefinitely), I have liquidated my savings and recently cashed in my life insurance. I am in a state that I have not been in ever...needing to reach out and ask for help. I have been active at supporting many causes over the years, but that is not meant to be the point. Just to say if you have it in you, no matter the amount, I would be very grateful.

Cancer has been all consuming since I tested positive and fought the fight. I have CT scans every 3 months, which leave me with my share of the co-pay at roughly 1,300.00, expensive medications, and post treatments that cost a lot and are necessary for my recovery. I also have two more surgical procedures related to my being ill. I just know I will be faced with 10s or thousands of dollars before it’s all done and “over”, I will always be in maintenance phase. I am working to move these around so my SSI will kick in and can get some financial aid.

I am currently in the process of selling personal belongings, precious items and irreplaceable gifts. As I do that I am asking for your help, in the form of a financial contribution. I have spent over 3 years trying to work to pay off debt, and now that is no longer an option. I am really struggling to contribute to my household while large sums of money loom over head.

I was raised to ask please and to say thank you. So, from a very sincere and grateful (always), and thankful heart, I need to reach out and ask for your help. I assure you I am filing for support where available, and as my SSI will let me work for 1,200.00/month additional I am looking for work.

I am strong, but my life coach and mentor have always encouraged me to ask for help when I need it. I NEED YOUR HELP. Being required to no longer work feels like I am on a sinking ship, but with your support I am asking for this funding to pay off my psychiatric care and continue with some mental support. This is a small amount and an important piece for me to maintain.

I will stabalize (hopefully) mid-year, 2018. Until then any contribution you can make allows me anoutlet to process through all of this with my mental health services.

XXX, Kevin

In this season of giving, I can't think of a better person to support! Much love to you all!!
