Kerry and Shelleys IVF Journey

Hi, our names are Kerry and Shelley. We are trying to raise extra funds to allow us to start our IVF journey. Here is a little about us below:

Kerry: I am 35 and a Classroom Assistant for a local school. I am currently studying part-time at the Open University to complete my degree to allow me to go on to be a teacher. I have previously worked in the Mental Health field and loved my job there; I just felt the time was right to move on and complete my childhood dream of becoming a teacher.

Shelley: I am 36 and a Peer Worker for a local Mental Health Organisation, helping to support people in their journey to recovery. I have previously worked in childcare settings and completed my childcare qualification. I have always hoped to get back into childcare, but for now, I am focusing on helping others.

As a couple: We have been together for seven years and married for five years. We stay in our two-bedroom house with our two west highland terriers, who are 12 and 8 years old. We have supportive families around us.

We are both Girlguiding Leaders - Kerry is a division commissioner and oversees 12 units in our area, and both are leaders of Rainbows, Brownies and Guide units for girls aged 4 to 14. We are appreciated and loved by many of our girls and their parents and families.

We also have set up and run a monthly kids club which allows children aged 4 to 10 to come along for 3 hours once a month to have some fun and carry on.

We are two very passionate women, and when it comes to children, that is where our hearts lie.

We have been trying to get pregnant using a sperm donor for the past six years on and off, and it just hasn't happened. We have some money put away for getting our consultation, but we need help to make our dream a reality.

We appreciate any donation, no matter the amount, and we promise to keep you updated on our journey.

We currently have a rough estimate of £5,600, but this could be slightly more or less. This is our start target, and if it becomes any different, we will amend the target.

We would just like to note that we have a holiday planned (already booked and paid for) and that all money donated to our go fund me will be used for its intended purpose. We just want to clear it up incase people wonder why we are on holiday when trying to save for IVF - Its because it was already paid for months ago. Thanks
