Kerlida's Brain Trauma Story

Donation protected
Kerlida has always been a hard working women. With her belly round as a globe still going to work. Everyone would ask her, girl you haven't had that baby yet. She laughs and reply",  not yet." Her cheerful spirit is contagious. She's the type of person that brings you joy on your roughest day. Kerlida had a healthy baby boy September 5,2018. During the birthing process Kerlida had to receive an emergency c-section because baby Micah was in stress. She was discharged from Atlanta Medical Hospital on September 8,2018. I,Sabrina, Kerlida's sister, received a tragic phone call on September 10,2018- around midnight from my brother in law saying "I think your sister just had a stroke". By this being my sister, I immediately jumped out of bed panicking. I called our mom,of whom has her own heart condition to tell her of the news. Our family rushed to Grady Hospital-Atlanta GA to make sure everything was ok. The nurses placed us in the family consult room while they did an CAT Scan. After the CAT Scan was done, the doctor informed the family that things were worst than what we expected. Kerlida had suffered a massive stroke, which lead to bleeding inside and outside her brain. The doctor informed us that the bleeding was getting larger in larger. Our only choice at this point was the option of immediate brain surgery before she lose her life. Since September 10,Kerlida has been in ICU fighting for her life. We're a Praying family,so we believe in miracles. She's receiving round the clock care from the staff at Grady Marcus Trauma Center. We know that it's going to be a long journey ahead, but we are prayerful. Along with round the clock care from the hospital staff, our mom has taken leave from work to attend to Kerlida as well. Our mom said,"she's Never leaving Kerlida side". She's going to be there until her health is renewed. Her kids miss her dearly. It's been rough on her husband because he has to see his wife whom is normally active, lay unresponsive to life. She hasn't been able to spend quality time with her newborn. The children pray for the day there mom could return home to hold them in her arms again. The burden has been heavy on everyone. The family is showering the kid with love and support. Hopefully,Kerlida can return home to her family with perfect health. Also, we want to thank our pastor's,family, friends, co-workers, etc for all your support and prayers. We are seeing daily progress. She's not able to speak yet, but she is opening her eyes. She's not able to understand where she is. We talk to her so she'll be able to hear and recognize familiar voices. Within these upcoming months she's going to need physical and speech therapy. I'm asking for donations to help with her medical and family expenses. We appreciate all donations in advance. I will be receiving the donations on behalf of my sister. Any funds raised will be for her during these hard times. Please continue to pray for Kerlida's full recover.
