Keri's Journey

Donation protected
Keri is an incredible woman, a Mother of 8, a grandmother of 16. And an incredible wife.

She has had ongoing treatment for Breast Cancer since November last year.
Including removal of the breast tissue, and the removal of many lymph nodes, later to be determined if the entire breast needs removing, depending on recovery and future scans. She underwent months of chemotherapy and radiation, where her body fought itself unbelievably, she lost her hair and the strength to do normal tasks, she had a drip through her arm, that led directly to her heart to keep the medicine flowing, the remaining strand of her chemotherapy, was close to taking her life, where unspeakable things happened to her body, her family held onto hope that she'd make it through. Her radiation was daily, where she travelled an hour each way every day to endure. Herself and her husband are on the pension and found it extremely difficult, so had to let go of most luxuries just to get by. Her radiation therapy concluded last week, yet the upper half of her body is severely burnt due to the effects. She needs daily treatment and dressings and finds most tasks very difficult. She is told that it will only get worse before it starts improving. Her body is still effected very much, as her nails are all falling off and her skin is burnt and dry, she cannot go into the sun at all. She has now been put on a strong strand of medication for the next 5 years, it makes her extremely weak and she finds daily tasks difficult, the medication stops the production of oestrogen in her body. Her cancer cells fed on the oestrogen, so they're trying to prevent it from returning. The medication may potentially be life saving, though it also slowly eats away at her bones. She will need regular bone density scans, regular mammograms and ultrasounds and ongoing treatment to heal her wounds. Her mammogram and ultrasounds will be 3 monthly for the foreseeable future and there is no guarantee that it hasn't been spread further. For now her family just hold onto hope and continue the treatments and therapies. To try and cope with her delicate life and health ailments. The future is not certain nor promised to her, as this is just the beginning. We now wait for more results of her upcoming tests.

She has never once complained through this process nor has she asked for help.

This woman is a fighter!
This woman is strong, bold and beautiful!

This is woman is my Mother.
