Help Daniel Ski!

Daniel has a dream; he wants to become the first paralympic skier from Kenya!

When Daniel was five, he lost his leg due to a snake bite outside his rural village in Kenya. Doctors didn't think he'd live, but he beat the odds. Thanks to hard work and determination, he became a competitive soccer player, high-jumper, and more recently a skier!

In 2012, South Korea invited athletes from the tropics to learn winter sports. This was an opportunity Daniel could not pass up, and he instantly fell in love with the sport!

With Kenya having no skiing, Daniel made the journey to the United States to train. He arrived in the US with only a backpack, the clothes on his back, and the determination to ski in the 2018 South Korean Paralympics. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time or resources to do all that was necessary to qualify that year. Still, Daniel did go to PyeongChang where he participated in ceremonies and was honored to carry the torch!

He then set his sights on Beijing 2022 and returned to the U.S. to train. Once again, things did not go as planned when the ski industry shut down in response to the Covid pandemic. Then a series of events prevented Daniel's return in 2021, which ensured he would miss another chance to compete.

Now Daniel has a third shot at achieving his dream and wants to return to the U.S. for the 2022/3 ski season to train, compete, and prepare for the 2026 Paralympics.

Daniel’s drive to represent his country and strengthen the disabled sports community in Kenya shines strong. Daniel hopes his story will inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the setbacks they face: “Disability means nothing. What is important in life is attitude. When you have attitude, we all move together.”

Thank you for supporting Daniel in his mission!

Fund Distributuion Plan: The funds raised for Daniel are currently being handled by Ron Reich, a friend and benefactor in Utah who will be personally withdrawing the funds and delivering them to Daniel. This process is needed because Go Fund Me does not work with Kenyan banks. The fund total is based on $10,000 a year to help cover all race training, registration, equipment, travel, and living expenses that relate to Daniel's training and competing.
