Kentucky Tornadoes - Lions 43-K Relief Fund

 

 

 

The tornadoes on the evening of December 10th changed a fair number of communities in Western and South Central Kentucky into disaster zones.

 

Communities affected the worst, in our assessment so far, were Mayfield (Graves County), Dawson Springs (Christian County), and Bowling Green (Warren County), with secondary areas of concern being: Benton (Marshall County), Falls of Rough (Grayson & Breckinridge Counties), Central City (Muhlenburg County), Beaver Dam (Ohio County)

All of these communities in Kentucky fall into Lions District 43-K, of which I am the Treasurer for and have been authorized to post this fundraising request. Lions District 43-K is, essentially, the entire western part of the state (everything south and west of Louisville, KY, running to the state borders), and serves as the organizing body of roughly 70 Lions Clubs across that geographic area.

 

(So, if you're looking for a good place to make a single donation to make the largest geographic impact, this is your place.)

 

Proceeds from this page will go *directly* to the local Lions Club community foundation for which we feel is the greatest need at this moment, Mayfield Lions Club, for distribution into their and the other dozen or so communities impacted through Kentucky, to provide for whatever that community's needs may be, as assessed locally by the respective clubs.

 

(In past events, Lions have used the money to provide: hot meals, water, heating oil, personal care items, payment for prescriptions, vision care and replacement of glasses lost in storms, etc.)

 

Lions on the ground in these communities are already assessing how they can help, so info on this page will be updated frequently to help communicate those needs as they are discovered.
