Ken's Reconstructive Surgery

On July 25, 2017 Ken was pitching a softball game in Boulder, CO. A ball was hit back at him and hit him in the forehead. After a very long ER visit he was diagnosed with multipul Frontal Sinus Fractures. The next day we met with a facial recontruction specialist. He informed us that 97% of these types of injuries do not require surgery because the compression of the frontal sinus is only 1-2 mm. Ken's frontal sinus was compressed 8mm and will require surgery. In the next 1-2 weeks he will ungergo a tough surgery where the surgeon will open Ken's scalp with an incision going from ear to ear and use plates to correct the fractures. Ken will spend a night in the hospital but will be unable to return to work for a minimum of two weeks. If left untreated the fractures could cause more serious, life threatening damage.

Ken has already missed two days of work and might miss more before the surgery even takes place. As Ken will recieve some short term disability we are asking for help to cover the loss of wages and excess medical cost. Because this surgery is considered partially cosmetic, it will not be fully covered by insurance. After speaking with our insurance company, they gave us an estimate on what would be owed after their coverage.
