Kenny's Vision for Zachariah

Donation protected
Meet Ken Alexander or Kenny as he is affectionately known. A lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore and longtime resident of Asbury Park Ken was honored to have played a small role in helping others visualize that Asbury Park (well know as as a place for helping musicians) would be ideal for artist to fulfill their dreams as well. In June of 2000 a Tri City News article (supporting the idea of building lofts to attract artist to the area) said that Ken was exactly what they wanted in Asbury Park.

To support his passion Ken found a second love and for 19 years he was the Sous Chef and eventual Chef at the Porch Restaurant in Spring Lake. His culinary talents were also highlighted for many years at Peps Place in Deal and the Cypress Inn in Ocean Township. The customers as well as his colleagues liked him as much as the signature dishes he prepared. Life was great, but became even better when his son Zachariah was born. Several years ago Ken was awarded full custody of his son and he happily turned his life upside down (laying down his Chef knives in exchange for Butcher knives at the Freehold Acme) to be the best possible single dad!

Sadly, Ken was recently diagnosed with Severe Glaucoma! He has completely loss the vision in his left eye and despite surgery his right eye remains drastically visually impaired! As a result, he can no
longer paint the life like renderings that fill his Artist Loft in Trenton nor can he work as a Butcher. This effectively took away both of his sources of income. Reluctantly, Ken had to turn to Disability and Social Security. Although he's been contributing to the coffers of these agencies for many years, what they are offering in his time of of need is woefully inadequate.

At 59 Ken not only has to worry about his needs both now and in the future he must also worry about his son. 8 year old Zach is a sweet intelligent boy who loves playing golf, swimming, and playing tennis. Please help this father (who in typical Ken fashion remains positive and hopeful) and son as they try to turn "Lemons into Lemonade" by giving whatever and whenever you can to assist them with their present and future financial obligations.

- The background for this campaign was thoughtfully written by Kenny's sister, Debra. In addition to Debra, I'd like to heartfully thank all who have contributed to this coming to fruition, as well as the family and friends that will continue to assist Kenny and Zachariah. Please donate what you can to support someone who has affected so many with his creativity, authenticity, and rare ability to bring out the best in people that are fortunate enough to know him.
