Our beloved friend, Kenneth Lambatan, lost his battle with COVID-19 last Monday, 27 April 2020. He was only 33 years old.
Ken worked for the National Health Service since arriving in the UK in 2017. He started at Kingston Hospital as a recovery and research nurse before moving to St. George’s Hospital to join their Clinical Research team.
Ken was overjoyed when he found out his work visa to the UK had been approved. We remember the story his brother shared about this day, of Ken screaming with joy at the top of his lungs, when he learned of the wonderful news. It was always his dream to work in the UK. When he finally saw Big Ben, he was overcome with emotion. He could not believe how blessed he was to finally see it in real life, after only having a picture of it as a screensaver on his computer screen.
Those who knew Ken remember him as an extraordinary person, son, brother, nurse, colleague and friend. He was larger-than-life and sparked joy and laughter wherever he went.
Sadly, Ken died without any of his family members close by, as they are all in the Philippines where Ken is from. The agony and loneliness his family must feel is unimaginable.
We would like to show his family just how much Ken was loved and celebrated by everyone who knew him by setting up this fundraiser for them.
Ken had so many hopes and dreams for himself and his family. Though for him these will now, sadly, remain unfulfilled, we hope that for his family, Ken’s dreams for them will live on because of your kindness and generosity.
