Hello, my name is Jimmy L. Kendrick. My family and friends call me Kendrick. I used to be a successful Truck Driver. I would drive all over the country until I became ill while on the road. I wasn't known to take long breaks, but the body will give out when something is wrong. In November 2018, I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure.
Getting the news that my kidneys were failing was extremely devastating. I knew my life would never be the same and it isnt. My capabilities to do the things I enjoy like driving long distance and jogging are tough some days. My appetite is low or void. Many of my friendships dissipated. It is true, you don't really know who has your back unless you are going through a storm. I had to learn this sad and unfortunate truth.
The upside is, my illness brought me closer to family who have done a tremendous job helping me with day to day duties like doctors appointments for testing and dialysis treatments. I am extremely grateful to my parents and siblings. It also has made me conscious of what I put in my body. In addition, to keeping myself healthy, I needed to learn how to keep myself at peace.
My goal one day is to look forward to having a kidney transplant and going back to some type of normalcy. Thank you for reading and I look forward to updating you soon!
