Help Our Classmate and Friend Through His Medical and Financial Battle with Pancreatic Cancer!
About Kelly – Kelly Michael Bell is a 1985 graduate of Northville High school, former varsity baseball player, and good friend to many of us through the decades. Today he is a 47 year old loving husband to Alicia (Estigoy) and now lives in Onekama Michigan area (due to the unfortunate loss of their home in Northville).
Kelly’s medical battle - Approximately 4 years ago Kelly was diagnosed with a form of pancreatic cancer called Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (Islet Cell Tumors). Kelly's diagnosis came about by an ER visit an onset of severe diabetes. This type of cancer rarely shows symptoms and is known as “the silent killer”.
Treatments - Kelly's oral chemo regimen is to sustain & prolong life until our world finds a cure. His symptoms are treated with various medications. Zofran is taken for the chemo regimen and Temodar for the nausea. The pain is constant and makes traveling extremely difficult, with short car trips being about all he can bare. Kelly takes Percocet to dull the pain but often it's not enough and Morphine is being used more often recently. The increase in Kelly's daily pain has been very difficult for his family to watch him endure.
Financial hardship – Kelly and Alicia have lost just about everything they own. The medical bills alone are astronomical ($700 alone monthly co-pay forXeloda)! As a direct result of this illness, the mortgage company had to foreclose on Kelly and Alicia's home in Northville that they worked so hard to purchase. The bills continue to pile up and now Kelly and Alicia have been forced to re-locate closer to relatives and friends who can help them. Being this sick Kelly has been unable to work for over 4 years. Alicia has had to take part-time, lower-paying job and is Kelly's full time caregiver.
Our Goal – Simply put, Kelly and Alicia need our help! We are reaching out to their Northville classmates, friends and those in our surrounding community to help raise $18,000 for Kelly's medicine ($900 per month) and basic monthly expenses.
100% of all monies collected (minus a Go Fund Me Fee) will go directly to Kelly and Alicia Bell. Please donate any amount you can even if it is a few dollars. Please spread the word via social media avenues like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
