Philippines Mission Trip 2018

As many of you know, part of my family heritage is Filipino. Although I was only four years old when I last visited the Philippines, I have many beautiful memories of our visit with my father's family in Manila. One memory in particular, however, left quite a somber impression on me, even at such a young age... an image still engraved in my mind of impoverished women and children leaning out of windows to hang laundry on the pulley line connected to a building across the street. I recall the face of a little girl staring back at me as I watched this scene that was so foreign to me. My father's family was blessed to live comfortably, so I couldn't understand how the two conditions could exist simultaneously. I still remember the confusion I felt that something wasn't right. I believe this was a glimpse of the Father's heart as He placed a seed of compassion and love in my heart for the people of the Philippines. So I am excited to share that my daughter, Olivia, and I have the opportunity to go to the Philippines with a mission team from our church. Our team will be partnering with a Christian ministry to serve at an orphanage in the city of Tabuk, approximately 280 miles from Manila. We will also minister in a regional conference as well as other local venues. Members of our team will be involved in setting up an aquaponics system (a sustainable food mechanism) and training locals to build systems using locally sourced materials. A message from Olivia: I am so glad to be going to the Philippines! God has brought our team together and we are praying for a great move of the Spirit as we serve the Filipino people. I ask that you would support us by praying for safety over our travels, and that God uses us to serve and touch the lives of the orphans and every person we  encounter on this trip.
