Kelley's Breast Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
My sister Kelley is 38 years old with a one year old son, William.  In the past few weeks, she has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.  The type of cancer she has is very aggressive and has spread to her lymph nodes, lungs, liver, and ribs.  This has come as a complete shock to her and our family and everyone has been trying to come to terms with and process her diagnosis and upcoming treatments.

Kelley will be starting chemo treatments this week and the first round of chemo is scheduled to go on for the next five months. The effect of this chemo will then be evaluated and determine the next step in treatment.  With everything the doctor has told us, it seems that treatment may continue for an extended period of time and it will be a difficult road ahead.

Over the past year Kelley has been attending school full time and raising her son, William.  She has now been focused on doing everything she can to take on this fight, through both medical and nutritional methods and, of course, raising her son. She lives out of state (Florida) and away from parents and siblings.  Our mom has taken unpaid time off of work to be able to be with her during treatments and help her along the way, as needed.

As you can imagine, fighting cancer is not cheap or for the faint of heart.  Kelley has the heart of a lion and the greatest motivator looking up into her eyes every day – her one year old son.  However, the financial burdens of this diagnosis, and treatments for it, are high.  This is where you and the fund come in: Kelley hates asking for help, especially from our friends and family, though she has always been the first to offer help to anyone in need. We love Kelley.  And we want to make sure she gets the best possible care and treatments available and that she is able to afford that care. We want to make sure she is able to have someone there with her and William as she goes through these treatments. The hope is to help the financial hardship of this diagnosis be as least stressful and limiting on treatment options for her as we possibly can.

And so we are asking all of our friends and family to consider helping ease this financial strain for Kelley and donate any amount, if you are able. Your help in assisting is greatly appreciated. We also appreciate any thoughts and prayers for Kelley as she goes through this.

A few examples of how the money raised will be used:
- Medical treatments (Chemotherapy, medications, medical appointments, tests, any surgical procedures or radiation treatments, etc.)
- Bills and expenses that will add up while Kelley is out of work and school
- Nutritional supplements, healthier foods, etc.
- Costs associated with having a family member in Florida with her to assist her
- Unanticipated costs that will come up during this battle

Please also note that any funds collected that Kelley does not end up needing to cover the costs outlined above will be promptly donated to causes that help the other men and women battling cancer around the country.
