Kellan VS Leukemia

Donation protected

Kellan Hoi Hoang, son of Henry Hoang and Lena Hoang and brother of Camden Hoang (22months old).

Kellan is 4 years old, born on August 11th, 2014. He is kind, thoughtful, and always eager to help. He can be quiet and shy, but dont let that fool you; he is one smart cookie. When he was 8 months old, we put him in swimming class and he learned how to float. At 18 months old, he knew all his ABCs, 123s and shapes. When he was 2 years old, he graduated from his swimming class, started word recognition, and slowly began reading on his own. We still remember at 3 years old, his preschool teacher pulled us aside to comment that she is shocked about his reading skills and that he knew all the planets in the solar system. As parents, we are so proud of him. Now he's 4 years old, he tried many activities like gymnastic, basketball, and others but the one he really love is hip hop dance class which he's attending now. He's also in pre-K, started to write words in sentences and developing his social skills. He loves school and adores his teachers and classmates.

On April 15th, 2019, everything suddenly changed. He was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Two weeks prior, Kellan started looking tired and we thought it was allergy. On April 9th, 2019, we noticed a rash and 2 lumps on his head (one on each side behind his ears). We contacted his pediatrician right away and was told they were swollen lymph nodes and it might be caused by allergy. On April 15th, 2019, we noticed MORE (new) lumps on back of his head with one very sensitive and painful. We took him to the ER. Tests were ran and he was admitted immediately. As parents, our hearts broke into a million pieces when we were informed he has Leukemia (blood cancer).

Because of Leukemia, we were told he can no longer go to school and continue any activities for an indefinite amount of time. This will be devastating news for him. He will be receiving chemotherapy for 3 years but until 5 years later... we won't know if he will be cancer free. There are also many worries about how chemo will affect his body and growth, and the many things that may go wrong.

The first stage of chemotherapy will be the most important and most intense. Because of Kellan's medical needs, one parent will need to stay home to provide full time care. This will result in a huge financial struggle as one parent's income will not be adequate to cover all the expenses that we will incur on this difficult journey. We will be facing many challenges and obstacles but we are hoping financial won't be one. We would like to provide Kellan with our undivided attention during this first stage of brutal chemotherapy.

With all these challenges and obstacles up ahead, we really need all the help and support we can get. Any donation amount will be greatly appreciated.

We will open an Instagram account for Kellan. Follow to see his fight. https://www.instagram.com/kellanhoihoang/

We would appreciate any tips from anyone with experience with this type of cancer. This is very overwhelming for us and any support we get is appreciated. Thank you.

ALL donations will go towards medical bills, Kellan’s care, and other needs.

Love,
The Hoang Family
