My Name is Keith Williams and at age 14 I was diagnosed with a liver condition called sclerosing cholangitis. Over the years my disease has been managed with medication. I was told orginally that I would have to have a liver transplant by the age of 18 but by the Grace of God I have been able to manage until now.
I am now 36 years of age. Over the past year, I have been in and out of the hospital every 3 months. Then 3 weeks ago I was added to the national transplant list because medication could no longer help my condition.
On June 2, 2017, I got the most important call of my life; there was a transplant available for ME! I had to report to Emory University Hosptial immediately.
That same day I received a new liver and I'm currently at Emory recovering from the surgery. I am so thankful to God for the person whom this liver came from and I am so thankful to God for sparing my life.
Just prior to getting the good news, family and friends were in the process of having our first fund raising event. I was expecting that I would have to wait up to a year to receive a liver and thought I had more time to raise funds for all kinds of costs associated with this process. These expenses are tremendous. I will have to stay in Atlanta for 3 -6 months so that my doctors can monitor my progress. Housing is a large expense because I can only stay at a selected location that is close by and in addition to that, the medication is close to $3,000.00 month. I must stay here and take medications to survive regardless of the costs.
Many of you may be wondering what you can do to help me. I would like to solicit your prayers for my recovery and financial gifts. The blessings of your thoughts and prayers, as well as monetary donations, are so very much appreciated.
I want to thank each one of you reading my story for all the thoughtfulness, care, and support. It is my intent to publish regular updates as I proceed along in this journey. I cannot express how thankful I am for any amount you are able to contribute to my medical care!
