Robert has been accepted for a surgery which could change his life - and give him the ability to walk! I will be pausing donations on this site for now because we need to consolidate our funds to help Robert get into surgery ASAP. Please head over to https://gofund.me/db2962f6 to hear about his latest opportunity!

Thank you all so much for your support over these past years. It’s been an incredible journey, and I am excited to invite you into this next phase of Robert’s life! We could not have gotten here without you. This community means a lot to us; thank you again from the deepest place in my heart!

#KeepRobertSmiling

[updated 08/30/2021] Robert is an eight year old boy who especially enjoys riding his bike, playing with cars, baking, and reading. He is an energetic, avid learner! At birth, Robert was born with a condition called Hydrocephalus, excess cerebrospinal fluid within the brain. This is typically treated immediately to drain the fluid away from the brain. Robert also has spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy that affects muscle control and coordination in his legs. The circumstances of his early life prevented appropriate treatment for CP and the urgent shunt surgery for his Hydrocephalus. This caused not only physical delays but a life threatening situation. Robert was born in Liberia, West Africa where the resources and education for children with disabilities care are extremely limited. After finding him abandoned and falling in love with him as my son, I made it official and filled out the adoption paperwork! I have been blessed by our support thus far to help Robert get a life-saving shunt surgery and also to be assessed by doctors who can help me attend to his muscular needs. He has come from not being able to complete any movements except lying on his back or side (age 4) to being able to sit independently, crawl, take a few steps in a walker, and continually leave me in the dust in his wheelchair and bike (age 8)!

My main focus is continuing to provide love and a home to this sweet boy, but it is also evident that he needs ongoing medical attention. My hope, prayer, and dream are to continue fundraising for medical care so he can have the opportunity to receive weekly therapies, doctor appointments, specialist appointments, and medical equipment. I was able to complete the adoption in 2017 in Liberia, yet I am still waiting on the processing of his official citizenship papers in the United States, causing him to be ineligible for insurance or any form of state funding. I know that I cannot alone provide the financial support Robert’s condition requires. Any amount you can provide is extremely appreciated, and all amounts will be directly used to pay for his medical bills. Thank you!

In Joy,
Stevie & Robert
