Keeping Healthy Harvest Urban Farms Open

Healthy Harvest Urban Farms is a plant-based, organic, non-GMO  restaurant and specialty food store located in Rock Island, Illinois of the Quad-Cities, run by the Summers family: Chad, Nieko, and Angelo. I've known Chad and Nieko for years, way before Healthy Harvest existed. I know firsthand how dedicated and passionate this family is about  bringing healthy foods to our community. They are profoundly self-driven, always giving 100% of themselves to this business, and they are never ones to ask for help. 

Despite having diligent protocol in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, some customers came in a few weeks ago refusing to wear masks. Last week, Chad and Nieko became very fatigued from what they thought was overworking, so they decided to close down for a short period of time to avoid burnout. However, they soon began showing the symptoms of COVID-19. They are now at home, with extremely high fevers, struggling to help each other with simple daily tasks.

Obviously, this directly impacts their ability to run Healthy Harvest. We project that this will financially impact the business for three months as they recover and work their way out of the significant losses from having to close the doors. To prevent the power from getting shut off and the subsequent loss of thousands of dollars of refrigerated and frozen foods, they will need assistance in covering the power bills and lease for three months, which comes out to $6,500. This is the bare minimum to help Healthy Harvest stay afloat.
