Cy Winstanley is a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, runner and writer from New Zealand who has lived in Nashville TN for the last 4 years.
He is about to apply for a Green Card, so he can remain living and working in the USA, and is looking at a total bill of $USD10,000.
He's using everything he has to reach this amount, selling guitars, amps and his savings. Despite this, he's still going to struggle to reach it (cos like, it's $10K guys!) and I don't want him to have to sell his spleen or his soul. Though maybe he should sell this jacket...
All joking aside, if he can't raise the money, he'll have to leave. I don't want that and I know you don't either, so please chip in whatever you can to help him stick around and continue to be the productive and valued member of this amazing community we have here in Nashville.
Our band, Tattletale Saints, moved here together 4 years ago to pursue touring careers both in that band and as sidemen, and we have already spent $10,000+ each on VISA's to allow us to live and work in the US.
On a personal note, Cy and I have been through a lot in the last 20 years of friendship and this new life in Nashville wouldn't have been the same or even possible for me without him. I was lucky enough to win a Green Card earlier this year on the diversity lottery, which is why I didn't have to ask for the same financial help. Unfortunately Cy didn't.
Immigration is an ever-changing thing here, and our current President is making it ever more stressful and difficult for all foreigners, both illegal and legal, to be here. If you want more information about VISAs/Green Cards and the costs involved go here .
