Dear SunSpark Yoga Community:
It is hard to believe that in just a few months we will be looking back at an entire year we didn't have a whole lot of control in shaping. We very well might be the only yoga studio in Orange County that has followed all the rules for making this pandemic go away. Not to pat ourselves on the back, but we could have been open, making money and putting ourselves first. Even during stressful times, ethics and morals do not take a back seat just because of desperation and fear. We care deeply about the health, safety and wellbeing of our community and we’ll continue to do whatever is necessary to protect us all. Could it be that this outlook is the reason why we’re one of the last yoga studios standing?
We have done EVERYTHING we could do to keep SunSpark Yoga moving forward: Free virtual classes, paid virtual classes, SPARK-IN-THE-PARK outdoor classes. We have searched, applied for and received grants and loans (that money is long gone). But we are not done yet. A few weeks ago, this Go Fund Me was going to be a simple plea to help keep the Spark alive. We still need that help. But now, in addition, we have something exciting and specific that we are asking you, our community, to contribute to: SunSpark Yoga on the Paseo! Earlier in 2020, the city of Orange closed two sections of Glassell Street to cars and allowed restaurants to move outside when indoor dining was halted. This wonderful change to Old Towne Orange has saved these businesses and we hope it will continue regardless of whether there is a pandemic. Beginning in early December, SunSpark Yoga will have its very own outdoor space on South Glassell just one block away from our studio. We want and need to do it up in proper SunSpark fashion and make it a lovely, inviting space. We will build a deck that levels up the surface of the street and gets us off the asphalt. We'll cover it in easy to clean vinyl flooring and shelter the whole thing with a canopy tent so we can stretch and flow regardless of the weather. We'll include several outdoor heaters for when it's cold (California cold). Add a few potted plants and some lighting and there you have it: SUNSPARK YOGA ON THE PASEO!
Please contribute what you can to help us create this new outdoor space. Help us pay the rent to preserve our original space where we all practice and create so many amazing memories; when this is all in the rearview mirror, we can all return home together. Assist us in keeping our instructors employed and on the payroll. Allow us to expand our class schedule.
We are exactly where we are meant to be in this journey. For us, as most of you know, the community of SunSpark Yoga is just as important as the practice of yoga. Thank you for being a part of our community. Some of you have been with us for the entire 8+ years we’ve been in existence. Some of you came along part way through. Either way, we hope for at least eight more years with all of you!
To the folks that have continued their memberships and donated when they could, you have kept us going. Thank you! We know that this is a challenging time for us all and plenty of people among us are struggling. We’ve asked for donations in the past, but that money always went to a charitable cause. This time it’s for us and our community.
