Keep The Gilson Going

Donation protected
The Gilson Café & Cinema has been a fixture of Winsted CT's Main Street for nearly 40 years.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gilson was forced to shutter its doors for the first time in almost four decades. We've been knocked down, but we don't plan on staying out.

Since the first statewide lock down lifted for dine-in restaurants and theaters, we  have done our best to keep our spirit of entertainment and hospitality alive. To maintain safety standards, we have opened for only two days a week, to allow for deep cleaning, and at less than half capacity to ensure social distancing. This has made meeting the costs of operation a challenging feat.

As the pandemic surges and continues, we continue our dedication to providing our visitors a safe and memorable experience. As we do, every little bit helps. So we are continuing our fundraiser to offset the challenges of staying open in an unfamiliar landscape. We appreciate every kind thought and act on this journey to survive the pandemic as a small business.

The Gilson's owner, Alan Nero, has dedicated his life toward the town of Winsted and its people. He has donated his time and money to the community, and taken losses when it's meant giving others the chance to move forward.

We're hoping those around us, who are able to, will see fit to help him continue his work and legacy as we hope for the day when we are all able to enjoy the lives we remember.
